The Talon was the last remaining vehiclebelonging toChryslers Eagle car division. A small sports car sharing mechanicals with the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Eagle Talon was directed as the younger motorist attracted to import brand vehicles. First appearing in 1990, the Talon received a second-generation redesign for the 1995 model year. The pop-up headlights were withdrawn on the second-generation of the sporty three-door hatchback while the front-end handling was handled with a responsive double wishbone suspension. In 1998, Talon came in a different performance forms. In base trim model of the four-passenger sports car, the 1998 Eagle Talon was powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generated 140 horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque. Powered through front-wheel drive, the five-speed manual transmission allowed the Talon to achieve an average city/highway fuel economy number of 28 miles per gallon. A four-speed automatic gearbox was an option. Dual front airbags and a rear seat pass-through were standard on the base trim Eagle Talon for 1998. The Talon ESi was powered by the same engine as the base model but featured a slightly more sporty appearance. Operating on a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, the Eagle Talon TSi was propelled through 210 horsepower. Equipment with the TSi is considerably more alluring than the base trimmed Talon. Four-wheel discs brakes interact with tires mounted to 16-inch aluminum wheels. Inside the Talon TSi, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power mirror and an AM/FM stereo with cassette player is standard. With the TSi model, the availability of all-wheel drive provided drivers with increased traction. A remnant of Chryslers purchase of the American Motor Corporation in the 1980s, the Eagle brand was completely dissolved after the 1998 model year. The Talon sports car was the last vehicle produced under Chryslers Eagle division.
