About Ram 1500

In 1994, the Dodge Ram received a radical remodel that ultimately changed the pickup trucks were viewed. The half-ton version of the Dodge full-sized truck, the 1998 Ram 1500 was offered in Sweptline, Club Cab and an all-new Quad Cab body style. The 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab featured a pair of hinged access doors for rear seat passengers. A 6.5-foot short box and an 8-foot long box bed were available with the truck. Powerplant options for the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 consisted of a 175-horsepower 3.9-liter V-6 as well as two Magnum V-8 engines producing up to 245 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive was offered on the pickup truck.

For 1999, the Ram 1500 was offered with a Sport package that featured a unique front bumper and headlamp design as well as a body-color matching grille. The Dodge Ram underwent a massive revamp for 2002 that included retouched interior and exterior styling, an all-new frame, suspension as well improved engines.

The 2002 model year Ram kept the same basic front-end shape but featured a more substantial grille. Replacing the 5.2-liter Magnum V-8 powerplant option, the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 offered a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 producing 345 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. In 2006, the HEMI engine was revised with a Multi-Displacement System to conserve fuel. Also new with the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 was a four-door Mega Cab body style providing easy access for up to six passengers.

A complete redesign and reengineering defined the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. In mid-2010, Chrysler created the Ram division as the only outlet for trucks and work vans. For 2011, Dodge Ram 1500 was simply known as the Ram 1500.
