2016 model year changes

After a major redesign last year, the Golf gets only evolutionary changes for 2016. A new, updated stereo system runs on improved software, offering more connectivity and smartphone integration. The Driver Assistance Package has also seen significant updates, with new features such as adaptive cruise control and a forward collision warning system. Special features for 2016

Few cars have the staying power or instant recognition of the Volkswagen Golf, and the all-new Golf picks up right where its predecessor left off -- with even more to like. As a leader in the busy hatchback segment, the Golf is loaded with standard features, excellent ergonomics and plenty of practical space for passengers and cargo. Turbocharged power gives the Golf 1.8T plenty of pep. The GTI is a perennially lauded "hot hatch," is tremendously fun to drive and starts at just around $25,000.

The four-door Golf R hatchback offers seating for five and is equipped with a long list of desirable standard features. Base model outfitting includes: 18” wheels, performance touring tires, automated xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, heated and powered side mirrors, vanity rear spoiler, remote entry/start, automated windshield wipers, customizable driver modes, two-zone climate control, leather seating, heated and powered front seating, tilt and telescope steering wheel, split and foldable rear seating, parking camera, 5.8” touchscreen with eight-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth/iPod/USB integration. Upgrades can add 19” wheels, parking sensors (front/rear), adaptive suspension system, GPS and premium Fender sound system. Driving the Golf R is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that makes 292 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
