2016 model year changes

The BMW 3-series gets a mid-cycle refresh in 2016. Revised front and rear styling looks a little bit sharper, while upgraded suspension and a redesigned electronic power steering system help aid handling. The biggest news for 2016 however, is the introduction of the 340i, which replaces the 335i at the top of the standard 3-series hierarchy. The new name hints at a more powerful engine, with the 340i making about 20 more horsepower than the old 335i did. Other changes for 2016 include a newly available track handling package on the regular 3-series as well as LED headlights on the ultra-sporty M3.

Special features for 2016

The BMW 3-Series is a family of sporty sedans and wagons sized at what would be considered a compact car in the U.S. The 2016 BMW 3-Series Sedans and Sports Wagon models are built on a platform that made its debut with the 2012 model. Across its entire lineup, the 3-Series models stand out for being athletic, responsive and fun to drive, as well as more fuel-efficient than most other alternatives. The F30 redesign brought more back-seat space and cargo space to sedans, as well as a more sophisticated and isolated ride. M3 models, meanwhile, continue to be one of the most practical high-performance cars on the market.
The four-door, five-passenger BMW M3 takes high-performance and luxury to the next level. Offered in several trims, the base model is equipped with 18” alloy wheels, summer touring tires, xenon headlamps, leather upholstery, heated and powered front seating, folding rear seats, two-zone climate control, Bluetooth/iPod/USB integration, GPS, 8.8” touchscreen console, smartphone integration and nine-speaker audio system. Upgrades can add front and rear parking sensors, remote entry/start, heated rear seating, headlamp washers, LED headlamps, collision mitigation system, parking camera, larger wheels, sport-tuning, carbon-ceramic braking system, powered rear sunshades, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and more. Powering the M3 is a capable and turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that delivers 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.
