Buick has tried to separate itself from the 50s something crowd, but the likes of faster rompers that offer more in the glean of luxuriousness married to sexiness, like the CTS by Cadillac, has left them positioned mostly to the Asian-Pacific market in recent years. Albeit, the 2014 version of the Regal is redesigned, sleeker, curvier and more salacious than its predecessors, it still seems to leave you wanting something more. It features a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine (standard) that makes 259 horsepower with 295 pound-feet of torque. The twin-scroll engine features a rugged forged steel crankshaft with twin balanced shafts and a rather beefy front-wheel drive, all things considered. The attractive interior features large-sized vents, deep extensions in the body and added sound deflection (interior baffles that you don’t see, but that gag exterior noise; and special laminate on the windows to dispel sound). The touchscreen interface offers reduced buttons and a clumsy touchscreen. A great mid-sized sedan for the family of four, or for the retired couple, the car just leaves something lacking that other mid-sized sedans can offer (especially for its $37,500 base). For its price tag, the optional 20” wheels, upgradable V6 engine with sports-tuned suspension and brakes can add some muster. Still, the 4-year/50,000 mile warranty leaves something more to be desired.
