2014 model year changes

The Forester has been completely redesigned for 2014. It features a new exterior and interior as well as a new turbocharged engine. Styling on the base Forester has grown up and become more mature, while the turbocharged version distinguishes its self with a much more aggressive front fascia. The new vehicle is roomier than the one it replaces, even though external dimensions have only grown by a couple of inches.

Special features for 2014

The Subaru Forester has always been a very nice compromise between the practicality of a small hatchback or station wagon and the capabilities of an SUV. Though it can't off-road like some of the more serious SUVs out there, the Forester does at least come standard with all-wheel-drive, unlike most of its competition. Though base model Foresters perform similarly to competitors from Ford and Mazda, turbocharged versions offers significantly more power, resulting in sprightly performance. On-road handling is also a step above what is generally offered in this segment. The Forester starts at just under $22,000.

Completely redesigned for 2014, the Subaru Forester is an AWD crossover wagon powered by a horizontally-opposed 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 170 hp. The XT trims are powered by a new 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 250 hp. Transmissions include a standard 6-speed manual and an optional CVT with manual shift mode. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 24 mpg city to 32 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. Features include 6-speaker audio system, moonroof, heated front seats, leather-trimmed upholstery, dual-zone climate control, HID headlamps, and navigation. Safety is comprised of vehicle dynamic control (VDC), traction control system (TCS), anti-lock braking (ABS), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), advanced frontal airbags, side-curtain airbags, rollover sensor, and backup camera. The Forester is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
