Pros

A speedy, luxurious sports car that handles like a dream.

Cons

Limited trunk space was the only issue we could find.

What's new for 2014

Completely redesigned for 2014.

Exterior Impressions

When the 2014 Cayman S was dropped off on our doorstep, we were more than excited. Impressed by just the Cayman S' beauty alone, we couldn't wait to hit the road. It is similar in look to the Porsche 911, but a bit more compact. Porsche shaved off 66 pounds for 2014 using a new aluminum body, although the wheelbase is 2.5 inches longer.

Exterior Features

The Cayman S features dual exhaust outlets, Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and 19-inch wheels along with red painted brake calipers. The side profile of the car shows off the intake manifold, where air is circulated through to improve the engine.

Interior Impressions

The interior of the Cayman S is small, but well appointed. The leather seats are comfortable for a sport seat, yet still give you the feel of a race car. The raised center console provides added convenience, everything you need is at your fingertips. Trunk space in typical Porsche fashion is limited, however, you are able to store items in the front and back of the car.

Interior Features

Interior features include a 7-inch touchscreen, AM/FM/CD/Satellite Radio as well as MP3 compatibility, Bluetooth, Burmester High-End Surround Sound System comes standard with 12 speakers and an active subwoofer, but a Bose Surround Sound System is an available upgrade.

Driving Impressions

The Cayman is an exciting sports car to drive. We have nothing but great things to say about it. Acceleration is seamless going 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and driving in sport and sport plus mode really gives the Cayman that extra punch. Braking is beyond responsive, slowing down the vehicle at the slightest touch. Turn corners is a breeze, even at high speeds the car stays firmly planted. Handling is well-balanced due to the compact mid-mounted engine. You would never guess the Cayman is Porsche's entry level sports car.
