2014 model year changes

First introduced in 2012, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV took a year off and now returns for 2014. The biggest difference is that while the new car is virtually unchanged, it costs more than $6,000 less than the 2012 model. New standard features include aluminum wheels, fog lights, front heated seats and heated mirrors, a leather steering wheel and shift knob, a quick-charge port and a battery warmer.

Special features for 2014

The 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV is the lowest-priced, fully electric passenger car available to Americans, priced at just $23,845, which is $6,130 less than when the car last appeared on our shores in 2012. After a $7,500 federal tax credit, the price will be a quite-affordable $16,345. This is thousands less than the Chevrolet Spark and Nissan LEAF. At an EPA-rated 112 miles per gallon equivalent, it's one of the most energy-efficient cars on the market. Although the i-MiEV is quite a bit smaller than the Nissan LEAF, it offers nearly as much passenger space, and for those who plan to stay in the city, it offers even better maneuverability and parking ease than the trend-setting Nissan.

One of the least expensive all-electric vehicles in the North American marketplace, the 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV is a five-passenger hatchback providing an alternative to gasoline for city dwelling motorists. Powered by a 66-horsepower rear-mounted electric motor, the 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV’s operating cost is estimated at 3.6 cents per mile. The 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV can be recharged with a CHAdeMO DC quick charge port allowing up to 80 percent battery capacity to be fed in only 30 minutes. The lithium-ion battery pack is protected by an eight-year/100,000 mile warranty. The 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric vehicle is standard equipped with air conditioning, power windows, 15-inch wheels, remote keyless entry and heated front seats. Multiple airbags, active stability control, anti-lock braking system and traction control are included as safety features on the 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV. As a zero-emissions vehicle, the 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV is eligible for government tax credits.
