Special features for 2014

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is similar to the Tesla Model S in that it is a pure electric vehicle rather than a hybrid. It must be plugged in to refuel and does not require gasoline at all. The B-Class is a compact, but roomy 5-door hatchback which efficiently makes the most out of its relatively diminutive exterior dimensions. Inside, the B-Class shows off its Mercedes genetics with a well laid-out interior and plenty of the luxury buyers expect from the brand. With prices starting at just about $42,000, the B-Class Electric Drive will compete with other green cars such as the BMW i3 as well as with more conventional hatchbacks and luxury cars. Tax incentives in some markets should also lower the base price of the B-Class, in some cases to below $35,000, putting it within sight of the Mini Cooper, another premium small car.

The five-passenger, five-door Mercedes-Benz B-Class hatchback offers unrivaled German engineering with an electric engine. Key features include premium vinyl interior (upgradeable to leather upholstery), three-slat front grille, optional panoramic sunroof, COMMAND interface with USB/iPod/Bluetooth integration, climate control, 16” alloy wheels (upgradeable to larger sizes), LED running lights, parking assist, ambient interior lighting, four-link suspension, sliding rear seat for added legroom, 23.5 cubic feet of storage space, WiFi hotspot, collision detection and avoidance systems, optional touchscreen console with backup camera, adaptive braking assistance, and many other features that you’d expect from a leading luxury automaker. The B-Class is powered by a 100 kW motor and lithium-ion battery pack, getting approximately 115 miles per charge. The car is backed by a 48-month/50,000-mile warranty. The battery comes with a lifetime warranty.
