2014 Audi S5
NADAguides Test Drive Review
Overall Score

Great sport coupe, powered by a V6 engine with a sleek interior.

Tight rear seats best suited for children.

What's new for 2014

Keyless entry/ignition and Audi Drive Select are standard, and a new Black Optic package is available.

Exterior Impressions

The S5 in comparison, is similar to the A5 with its subtle curves and simple elegance, yet it has a few special touches on its sleek exterior. LED taillight design as well as LED daytime running light are displayed, quad exhaust outlets, a grey matte Singleframe grille and aluminum door inlays with the S5 logo.

Exterior Features

Besides a few special exterior design enhancements, the S5 also offers bi-xenon headlights with projector beam lenses, 18-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension, heated driver power door mirrors and turn signals, rear diffuser blades and a rear spoiler.

Exterior Summary
Interior Impressions

A comfortable cabin space, with elegant interior seating, featuring a combination of leather and Alcantara suede that seem to hug the body. While front seating is comfortable, the rear seats are a different story. Seating is very tight and not comfortable for adults riding for long periods of time, or around the corner for that matter. It is best to leave the backseat for kids. The Audi MMI system can be a little confusing at first, it does take time to learn, however the buttons are all conveniently placed.

Interior Features

The S5 is equipped with Audi MMI Navigation plus, adaptive cruise control with coast, resume and accelerate features, blind spot assistance, keyless start/stop and entry, 10 speaker sound system with CD player, MP3 playback capability, Sirius XM Satellite Radio with 90-day trial subscription, Audi music interface with iPod integration, Bluetooth and HomeLink garage door opener.

Driving Impressions

Driving the S5 is a very fun experience. Its 3.0-liter V6 engine gives this coupe a serious power boost. Acceleration is pretty quick going from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds, only to be slowed down by extremely responsive brakes. They only need the lightest touch. The S5 has capable handling, and is very comfortable to drive around town, yet sporty. The Audi Drive Select feature allows the driver the ability to tailor their driving style by picking from four different driving modes (Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual) which modify the vehicles performance. We recommend Dynamic mode.
