One year before a 50th anniversary for the classic Porsche sports car model, an all-new generation 911 modernizes the performance experience enjoyed by drivers for nearly five decades. The appropriately named Type 911 platform presents the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera as well as Carrera S as a lower, lighter and more powerful rear-engined vehicle. Other 2012 Porsche 911-related models are still built on the Type 997 platform. Revealing Porsche's sight into the future, a second gasoline/electric hybrid has joined the Cayenne S Hybrid. The 380-horsepower Panamera S Hybrid utilizes a similar powertrain setup as the Cayenne hybrid vehicle capable of travelling up to 30 miles on a gallon of fuel. Exploiting similar weight reduction measures performed on the Boxster Spyder last year, the 2012 Porsche Cayman R features a lowered stance and a 330-horsepower engine. Along with the base, S and Spyder version of the Porsche Boxster, the 2012 model year includes the Black Edition is a limited release vehicle offered only in solid black.
