For 2012, Kia completely re-designed the Rio sedan and Rio5 hatchback model, freshened the Soul, and added rear suspension dynamic dampers to the Sportage. A major recall was issued in the beginning of 2012 pertaining to faulty airbags, an issue plaguing over 145,000 vehicles (specifically the Optima and Rondo).
