Offered in regular, extended and four-door crew cab versions with the option of rear or four-wheel drive, the 2012 GMC Canyon is a well-suited pickup truck for places where a full-sized truck is unnecessary. Tilt steering column, air conditioning and AM/FM stereo is included on the lower trim version of the 2012 Canyon. Introduced last year, the 2012 GMC Canyon also adds the standard inclusion of Bluetooth connectivity. Above the Work Truck level, 2012 GMC Canyon SLE and SLT provide a more completed list of standard features as well as the crew cab body configuration. AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 compatibility, XM satellite radio along with fog lamps are included on SLE as well as SLT models. The base engine on most 2012 GMC Canyon is a 2.9 liter four-cylinder capable of generating 185 horsepower. Standard solely on the GMC Canyon crew cab with four-wheel drive but optional for the other body configurations, a 3.7 liter inline-5 runs on 242 horsepower. Eight-cylinder power is also included on the 2012 Canyon in the form of a Vortec 5.3 liter producing 300 horsepower. Five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmission choices are available on the 2012 GMC Canyon.
