Brought to sale in 2008 as Cadillac’s first (and so far only) hybrid gasoline-electric vehicle, the Escalade Hybrid remains an amusing eco-friendly luxury vehicle. Paired with General Motor’s Vortec 6-liter V-8 engine featuring Active Fuel Management, the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid utilizes a unique two-mode transmission with integrated electric motors to deliver both excellent performance and stellar fuel economy. Available either with rear wheel or four-wheel drive, 332 horsepower and 367 pounds-feet of torque moves the 2012 Escalade Hybrid’s standard 22-inch chrome aluminum wheels. Regardless of drivetrain choice, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid offers identical fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon city and 23 miles per gallon highway. Beyond the mechanicals, the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid provides an impressive array of standard features including XM NavTraffic with trial subscription, Bluetooth connectivity, tri-zone climate control and HID headlamps. Front seats are 14-way adjustable with heating and cooling functions. An Escalade Hybrid Platinum Edition is also available in 2012 offering features including Side Blind Spot Alert, heated steering wheel and rear seat entertainment system.Read more Read less
The Escalade enters 2012 with no significant changes from the 2011 model.
Tough, stylish exterior; opulent interior appointments; strong V8 performance; impressive tow ratings; comfortable ride and handling for such a big truck-based vehicle; high-efficiency hybrid powertrain availability
The Cadillac Escalade has a lot in common with GM's other full-size SUVs-- the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/XL, underneath--but you wouldn't know it inside. The Escalade's cabin is one of the most impressive, opulent interiors offered in an SUV, and ride quality and overall interior quality are top-notch. All the more impressive is the way the Escalade performs and handles considering its size and weight. The Hybrid version, although more expensive, doesn't give up any of the standard Escalade's luxury, handling, or ride quality, but does manage to get up to 50% better fuel economy.
