2011 model year changes

For 2011, an all-new 5-door hatchback, called the Forte 5-Door, joins the lineup, which last year consisted of a 4-door Forte sedan and 2-door Forte Koup. Also, an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission replaces the 4- and 5-speed automatics previously offered--improving fuel economy slightly--and a new 6-speed manual replaces the 5-speed. Otherwise, the Kia Forte lineup returns for 2011 with few changes, although steering-wheel paddle-shifters are now offered on all Forte SX models.

Special features for 2011

According to Kia, the Forte sedan has one of the roomiest interiors in its class--as well as one of the best-equipped cabins. Kia also claims to have one of the most advanced sound systems available which includes speed-dependent volume compensation to automatically increase the volume at higher speeds and Power Bass. The Forte is also covered by one of the most extensive warranties in the business, which includes ten years or 100,000 miles on powertrain components, five years or 60,000 miles limited warranty on the entire vehicle and five years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
New for the 2011 model year, the 5-door version of the Kia Forte provides 19.4 cubic feet of cargo room (a 4.7 cubic foot improvement over the Forte sedan). Offered in EX and SX trims, the 2011 Kia Forte 5-Door comes rich with standard equipment such as air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and locks as well as a 6-speaker audio system. Sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are notable upgrades with the 2011 Kia Forte 5-Door SX model. While the 2011 Kia Forte 5-Door EX equipped with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine producing 156 horsepower, the more sport-oriented Forte 5-Door SX possesses a 173 horsepower 2.4 liter powerplant. Both continuously variable valve timing-optimized engines finds a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission smoothly applying front-wheel drive grip. In relations to fuel economy, the Kia Forte 5-Door EX achieves above 28 miles per gallon in average city and highway driving while the more performance-based 2.4 liter powerplant still delivers fuel mileage of 27 miles per gallon.
