Special features for 2010

As a sister model to the Ford Explorer, the 5-passenger Mountaineer has space and towing capacity to spare. The difference is in off-road capability and overall comfort. The Mountaineer is not intended to take on the rough stuff; rather, it has been tuned for city and highway driving, with upgrades to creature comforts inside, a more refined exterior appearance, and a starting price under $30,000.
The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer is a premium version of the Ford Explorer. A mid-size SUV available with two trims, the Mountaineer comes in a base model or the Premium trim. The standard engine is a 4.0L V6, paired with a five-speed automatic, which produces 210 hp. A larger 4.6L V8 making 292 hp and mated to a six-speed automatic is optional on the Premium trim. Both trims are available with RWD or AWD. Standard on both trims are features such as anti-rollover technology, traction control, and front, front-side, and side-curtain airbags.
