Special features for 2009

The Toyota Yaris ranks as one of the lowest-priced small cars for 2009, and has especially low running costs and a reputation for reliability. Fuel efficiency ranks among the best in the segment, and with its tight turning radius and good maneuverability the Yaris makes a very frugal city commuter. The new 5-door liftback body style offers up to 25.7 cubic-feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded down.
With a brand-new four-door hatchback trim added for 2009, the Toyota Yaris subcompact coupe makes side curtain airbags and antilock brakes standard this year. Alternatively, the Yaris is available as a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback or four-door sedan with two trim levels. Standard features for the base trim include14-inch steel wheels, intermittent windshield wipers, air conditioning, adjustable front seats and a tilt steering wheel, while the S-trim-level features 15-inch steel wheels, a body kit and a CD/MP3 stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The front-wheel-drive Toyota Yaris is equipped with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that makes 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque, coupled to a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. Toyota Yaris fuel economy, per EPA estimates, can achieve 29 mpg city/36 mpg hwy and 32 mpg in combined driving for the manual transmission trims, while the automatic transmission trims lose one mpg. Standard safety features include antilock brakes and side curtain airbags.
