For 2009, the Saturn VUE, a five-passenger compact SUV crossover, gains standard panic-brake assist and enhanced driver-information center, along with a chrome package that is optional on V6 trims. The base trim comes with front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 2.4L inline-4 engine that produces 169 hp and 161 lb-ft of torque, paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. A 3.5L V6 engine is available on the XE that generates 222 hp and 219 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both the XR and Red Line are powered by a 3.6L V6 engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that churns out 257 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. A manual-shift feature is standard on the high-performance Red Line and optional on the XR. Either front- or all-wheel drive is available on V6 trims. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the FWD I4 is 19 mpg city/26 mpg hwy, while the AWD V6 gets 15/22 and the FWD V6 gets 16/23.
