The 2009 Pontiac Solstice is a two-door roadster that now offers a new hardtop coupe, with a removable roof panel, which is available in the same base and GXP trim levels as the soft top. New to the lineup is the soft-top Solstice Street Edition, with upgraded standard features and a sport suspension. The base Pontiac Solstice standard safety features include previously optional items, such as stability and traction control, four-wheel antilock disc brakes and a limited-slip rear differential. Also new is Bluetooth connectivity as well as updated wheel design. The base trim is powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine with 177 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque, while the GXP boasts a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that blasts 260 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Standard on either engine is a five-speed manual transmission, while a five-speed automatic transmission is an option. According to EPA estimates, fuel economy for the Pontiac Solstice, which accommodates two passengers, is 19 mpg city/28 mpg hwy and 22 mpg combined.
