Special features for 2009

The 2009 Nissan Xterra is a basic, value-priced sport-utility vehicle that offers serious truck durability and off-road ability. With convenient tie-down points and storage spaces, it's a good choice for young, active people who need to go off-road with a bike, kayak or other equipment. Yet with the back seat up and in place, there's enough space for four adults.

Updated in 2009 with new front-end styling, wheel design, seat materials, and interior controls, the Nissan Xterra midsize SUV handles on- and off-road challenges with finesse and reliability. Designed with body-on-frame construction and either rear- or four-wheel drive, the Xterra is powered by a 4.0L V6 engine that packs 261 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 4x2 trims with the automatic transmission is 15 mpg city/20 mpg hwy, while the manual transmission gets 16/20 mpg; the 4x4 trims rate 14/20 mpg with the automatic transmission and 16/20 mpg with the manual. Nissan Xterra photos reveal its distinctively rugged look and ergonomically-friendly interior. The Xterra features an abundant array of safety equipment including Nissan's Advanced Air Bag System featuring dual-stage front air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors, a full array of air bags, active head restraints and much, much more.
