Performance for the 2009 Mazda Tribute compact sport utility vehicle has been strengthened. Replacing the base 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, a 2.5-liter powerplant generates 171 horsepower. This larger displacement engine is also found in the Tribute Hybrid combining with electric propulsion. The 2009 Tribute's optional six-cylinder engine now produces 240 horsepower. Mazda's rotary-powered RX-8 receives a styling make-over for 2009 and features a new R3 Sport Package. A sunroof is now standard equipment on the Touring and Grand Touring version of the Mazda5 in 2009. The B4000 Cab Plus SE compact pickup truck has been dropped from the United States line-up for 2009.
