2009

The 2009 model year marks the start of a period of monumental change for the Jaguar luxury car make. In mid-2008, Ford Motor Company's sale of Jaguar and Land Rover brands to Indian-based Tata Motors was completed. Accompanying the transition to new controlling interests, Jaguar introduces an all-new XF sedan. A strikingly modern, rear-wheel drive mid-sized sedan, the Jaguar XF comes with V-8 power including the XKR's 420-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine. The Jaguar XF replaces the S-Type and X-Type as an entry-level premium sedan for the British luxury brand. The Jaguar X-Type's discontinued has also affected the wagon that has been dropped with no replacement model planned. The Jaguar XJ sedan and XK grand tourer include several new standard features for 2009. Park Control systems have been added standard to both vehicles while all XJ models now include DVD-based touchscreen navigation units. Last featured with the long wheelbase XJ model in 2006, the Super V8 Portfolio appears in 2009 once again as a limited edition model. Only 140 XJ SuperV8 Portfolio models will be sold in the United States.
