2009 model year changes

The Chevy Silverado sees some important changes for 2009, including the availability of a new 6.2L Vortec V8 engine, which can run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Also new for that engine, is a 6-speed automatic transmission, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and a rearview camera system. The 4-speed super-duty transmission has been deleted, as have the paint colors Dark Blue Metallic and Desert Brown Metallic. New standard features on LTZ models include a rear locking differential, trailer package and remote start. StabiliTrak stability control is now only available on V8 model Silverados.

Special features for 2009

To cater to the wide range of customers and their uses for full-size pickups, Chevrolet is wisely offering two completely different interiors for the new Silverado, resulting in products that are both functional and luxurious. Prices are very competitive with other full-size trucks, and the new 6.2L Vortec V8, putting out 403 hp, outguns the Toyota Tundra's V8 as the most powerful engine in its class. With the highest tow rating among light-duty pickups (up to 10,500 pounds), and class-leading V8 fuel economy of up to 20 mpg, the Silverado is very competitive among full-size pickups.
The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid is a 4-door, 5-passenger pickup truck that updates the utility and power of the truck with the green ideals and needs of the 21st century. The Chevy Silverado Hybrid takes advantage of the two-mode hybrid version of the 6.0L V8, which improves the fuel economy of the Silverado 1500 without sacrificing its towing capacity. In the first mode, at low speed and with a light load, the Silverado hybrid can operate in three ways: electric power, engine power or a combination of the two. The second mode is used primarily at highway speeds to optimize engine efficiency. The engine can switch between running on 4 cylinders or all 8 cylinders when necessary as well. The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 hybrid is the first production two-mode hybrid full-size pickup that you can buy, and it is backed by the quality that comes with all Chevy pickup trucks. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid photos show that it looks like all the other Silverados except it has a few more badges denoting that it is a greener vehicle.
