Based on an Australian product, the Pontiac G8 is a rear-wheel drive sport sedan with a standard V-6 or an optional 362-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 powerplant. In addition to the powerful, new full-sized sedan, Pontiac adds some excitement with their G6 line-up. The new 2008 G6 GXP model, offered with both the coupe and sedan, features a 252-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine beneath strikingly sporty styling. Making a trio of new performance products from Pontiac, the 2008 Torrent GXP is powered by a 264-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Side impact airbags is welcomed as standard safety protection on all Pontiac G6 models as well as the smaller G5 for 2008. Additional safety equipment now found on the brand's vehicles is a tire pressure monitoring system added to the Pontiac G5, Vibe and Solstice.
