2008 model year changes

New for 2008 is the limited edition Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. As performance oriented as the Gallardo is, the Superleggera supersedes the "base" model, resulting in a more track-focused machine that can still be enjoyed on the street. As alluded to by its name ("leggera" means "light" in Italian), the Superleggera sheds 154 pounds through the use of carbon fiber components, such as mirrors, door panels, the engine and central tunnel covering, the rear diffuser, and the underbody covering. Decreasing the weight to power ratio even further is a 10-horsepower increase over the regular Gallardo's 5.0L V10, which was accomplished by utilizing more efficient intake and exhaust systems.

Special features for 2008

The 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo's sexy shape is reason enough for most prospective supercar buyers, along with performance that ranks among the best of any street-legal production vehicle. It's become one of the poster cars of this decade, with a shape that really does look like it's moving fast even when it's standing still. The addition of the Superleggera for 2008 only further adds to the manufacturer's reputation.
In true Lamborghini form, the 2008 Gallardo is a thrill-a-minute, ultra-exclusive two door Sports car offered in Coupe and Convertible Spyder body styles with lightweight aluminum materials that enhances its lightning-quick speed. Under the hood, it sports engines ranging from a 520 horsepower 5.0-liter V10 that generates 376 lbs-ft of torque to a 530 horsepower 5.0-liter V10 in the Superleggera. In addition to Italian-refined interior styling appointments, the Gallardo boasts a solid list of safety features that include front and side-head airbags, ABS and traction control.
