For 2007, the Dodge Ram receives a significant upgrade in the form of a new optional powertrain that consist of a 6.7L in-line six-cylinder Cummins turbo diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Horsepower is now 350 @ 2,900 rpm (versus 325 in 2006) and torque is up by 40 to 650 ft-lbs @ 1,400 rpm (with auto transmission) and 610 @ 1,400 rpm (with manual transmission).

Special features for 2007

The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500's new diesel engine produces more torque than just about and engine available this year. Its Mega Cab also has more interior space than most competitors' crew cabs do. The Rams' burly styling is paired with low pricing and, as is often the case with domestic pickup, Dodge allows a seemingly infinite level of customization.

The mother of all one-ton work trucks, the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 features a 330 horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8 or a new-for-2007 optional Cummins 6.7-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder diesel. The 3500 is offered in Regular (with dual rear wheels), Quad Cab (with or without dual rear wheels) or Mega Cab body styles. Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, a front split-bench seat, an adjustable steering wheel and a trip computer. This year, the 3500 also features a remote starter as an option, as well as an optional sunroof.

The 2007 Dodge 3500 Mega Cab had an engine and transmission option at the half year. When I try to get the value it shows the 6.7 engine as a -$700. The 6.7 was an upgrade, so why the drop in value?


While you are correct that the 6.7 I6 was an upgrade on paper over the 5.9 I6 that it replaced, when it comes to the used market it is our belief that the 5.9 I6 commands a premium. The 5.9 I6 has a near-cult-like following in the used market place and commands a huge premium, much more than the engine that replaced it.



With all of that said, are you certain there is a $10k difference between NADAguides value and KBBs? While you didnt specify which Mega Cab (SLT, Laramie, 2WD, 4WD, etc.) that you have, I cant imagine that there is that large a difference between the values. Our Retail value for the Mega Cab SLT 2WD with the 6.7 I6 (before any adjustments for equipment or mileage) is ~$26k, with an average trade-in value of ~$21k. If KBB is $10k more or less than these they are just outright wrong. On the high end (Laramie 4WD) our values are ~$30k retail and ~$25k average trade-in.
