For 2006, the Saturn line-up is limited to three models. The Saturn L-Series has been discontinued for the 2006 model year ahead of the impending arrival of a replacement mid-sized sedan for 2007. Four years after its debut, the Saturn Vue compact sport utility vehicle received its first major restyle for 2006. Similar to the Saturn Ion in appearance, the Vue compact sport utility vehicle now wears an open upper grille. The problematic VTi continuously variable transmission offered with prior Vue models has been dropped for 2006. On the Saturn Relay for 2006, the StabiliTrak electronic stability control was promoted to standard equipment on all front-wheel drive models. In addition to the base 3.5-liter engine, an all-new 3.9-liter V-6 powerplant provides a more potent option for the minivan.
