As the Ford Motor Company plans a major restructuring through 2006, the primary brand unleashes a slew of important new releases. A family sedan positioned between the 2006 Focus and Five Hundred, the Ford Fusion debuts in 2006 offered with four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine power. The 2006 model year features redesigned Ford Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac models. Greater overall length and features such as standard electronic stability controls are part of the redesign of the Explorer line. Also gaining some modernized aesthetic appeal for 2006 is the Ranger compact pickup truck. The Excursion and the Thunderbird have been cut from the Ford brand line-up for 2006. A number of new trim level choices have also been added. Available as a cosmetic upgrade for the 2006 Ford Mustang GT is the California Special package. For buyers of the ultra-exclusive Ford GT, a 40th Anniversary special edition package is a no-cost option commemorating the first Le Mans victory by the original 1960s race car. Buyers of the 2006 Ford F-150 are presented with the opportunity to purchase a Harley-Davidson model representing an official branding partnership between two American icons in transportation.
