New for 2004, the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx is a hatchback counterpart to the Chevy Malibu Sedan. The Maxx comes available in either the LS or the LT, with a 200 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with front-wheel-drive. The Maxx also features 4-wheel disc brakes and even though it sports a longer wheelbase than the Malibu Sedans (by about 6 inches), it’s body is actually smaller in comparison. The Maxx features a sliding rear seat to accommodate cargo or added leg room, and a solid list of amenities and safety equipment (including front, side-body and side-head airbags).
