With a redesigned exterior for 2004 that includes reshaped sheet metal to make the series look more like BMW sedans, the 2004 BMW X5-Series has also received a drive system enhancement known as xDrive (with locked front-to-rear traction distribution for better handling). The X5-Series comes in three different trim levels – the 3.0i, the 4.4i and the 4.8is. These are big, powerful SUVs known for their agility, acceleration and maneuverability in foul weather and on rough terrain, as well as their luxury appointments. Standard X5-Series features include auto climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, memory mirrors, lumbar seats, a pre-installed telephone and plenty of power controls. Horsepower varies between trim levels with the 3.0i featuring 225, the 4.4i featuring 315 and the 4.8is featuring 355.
