The 2003 Subaru Forester gets styling enhancements this model year, in addition to more occupant legroom, yet it remains its compact, maneuverable self. The Forester is offered in X and XS trims, with a standard 165 horsepower 2.5-liter flat 4-cylinder under the hood mated to either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. The Forester features seating capacity for up to five and a nice list of standard equipment, including air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, power accessories, lumbar seats, an adjustable steering wheel, ABS brakes and airbags.
