The 2003 Mercury product line is showcased by a fresh, classy approach to the American sport sedan. The Mercury Marauder is largely based on the Grand Marquis but includes a number of unique appointments including a 302-horsepower V-8 engine. Exclusively sold in black, the 2003 Marauder sedan features 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels mounted to BF Goodrich tires and carbon fiber-like interior trim. Consisting of just four vehicles, the 2003 Mercury lineup included a number of cuts. Reincarnated as a compact coupe in 1999 after first being dropped in 1997, the Cougar nameplate has once-again been removed from the Mercury brand. Existing since 1993 as a minivan co-produced with Nissan, the Mercury Villager is no longer available. The Mercury brand will receive a new minivan in 2004 based on a platform shared with the current Ford minivan. The Sable returns relatively unchanged for 2003 while the Mountaineer adds standard power-adjustable pedals and features an optional DVD entertainment system.
