The Saturn brand becomes the latest entrant to the sport utility vehicle sector for 2002 debuting the Vue. The 2002 Saturn Vue heavily borrows cues from the S-Series sedan and utilizes dent-resistant side body panels. With an available 3.0-liter V-6 engine, the Vue becomes the first all-wheel drive Saturn product. When equipped with the base four-cylinder powerplant, the 2002 Vue's engine can be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission. For 2002, the L-Series sedan and wagon have gained several upgrades. Side curtain airbags introduced in 2001 are now standard on the Saturn top-of-the-line model. New options offered on the Saturn L-Series for 2002 include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system and automatic climate control. The Saturn SC coupe and SL sedan changes are minor for 2002 but the SW wagon has been completely dropped.
