Lincoln's 2000 model year lineup is bolstered by a fresh, new entry-level product. A four-door, mid-sized sedan offered with V-6 or V-8 engine power, the 2000 Lincoln LS shares its platform and technologies with the Jaguar S-Type. Well-equipped with Lincoln's focus on luxury, the LS provides buyers of the brand rare access to a manual transmission (the last Lincoln to be offered with such a gearbox was sold in 1951). Adding 17-inch wheels as a standard feature, the 2000 Lincoln Navigator also includes several new options such as a navigation system and a reverse sensing system. The Continental and Town Car both add a manual emergency release inside the trunk for 2000. With the addition of side impact front airbags being added standard to the Navigator sport utility vehicle, the all 2000 Lincoln products now feature the safety item.
