Once again, Kia enters the 1999 model year with a two-vehicle product line with a budget-minded focus. The Kia Sephia returns as a compact sedan while the Sportage arrives in 1999 unchanged offered as a four-door or two-door convertible model. With no major changes made to the Sephia or Sportage in 1999, much of Kia Motors' news has revolved around the corporate structure of the company. Saved from potential demise in 1998, Hyundai bought a majority stake in the fellow South Korean automobile producer. The new partnership adds a new sense of stability to the company and reassurance to previous as well as current owners of Kia owners heading through 1999.
