The 1999 GMC Sierra is the brand’s 1/2 ton full-size pickup that has been completely redesigned inside and out with more power, efficiency and capability.
Provided with an all-new redesign creating a lighter but stronger pickup truck, the 1999 GMC New Sierra 2500 model employs 8-bolt wheel hubs and a refined Vortec V-8 engine.
Remaining as a popular full-sized truck in spite of a new GMC pickup truck being introduced this year, the 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 comes with standard 255 horsepower V-8 power.
The 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab ¾ ton pickup, sold only in the classic body style this year, comes standard with a 5.7 liter V-8 powerplant available through either rear or all-wheel drive.
Built only on the classic pickup truck body style for this year, the one-ton 1999 GMC Sierra 3500 comes with the choice of a single and dual rear wheel chassis.
Providing the capability of a one-ton with the four-door capacity, the 1999 GMC Sierra 3500 Crew Cab pickup truck features a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.
While a new GMC full-sized, half-ton pickup is added to the 1999 lineup, the GMC Sierra 1500 Classic will continue to be sold as a lower-cost V-8 alternative for this model year.
A well-equipped compact pickup, the 1999 GMC Sonoma is available with RWD or 4WD and a choice between four or six-cylinder power.

GMC Prices & Values: GM purchased a truck company creating General Motors Truck Co., which became GMC Truck. GMC is the brand name for trucks (see the GMC Sierra 1500 model history), vans and SUVs sold by General Motors.
