Chevrolet's workhorse half-ton pickup truck line is extensively re-engineered for the new century. Standard Four-wheel disc brakes and a three-piece modular frame are among many features found with the new 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The first completely new version full-size pickup truck from Chevrolet in 11 years, the 1999 Silverado is strengthened and better equipped than its predecessor. At the smaller end of the Chevrolet truck line-up, a second-generation Tracker compact sport utility vehicle applies several car-like features for better on-road manners. Further civility arrives with the brand's sport utility vehicle in 1999 through the availability of the TrailBlazer upgrade to the Blazer. Some performance style has been added to the S-10 line with the debut of the Xtreme package. In relations to Chevrolet's car division, Corvette fans are presented with a third body style choice for the 1999 Corvette model year. A fixed-roof featuring a notchback appearance is referred to as the Corvette hardtop. The hardtop joins the existing Chevrolet Corvette coupe and convertible body styles.
