The 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a mid-size SUV which seats five passengers, is more compact than the standard Montero and is quite capable both on the road and off of it. The Montero Sport is available in a handful of 2WD and 4WD trims. The base engine is a 2.4L four-cylinder which produces 132 hp. A 3.0L V6 is offered which produces 173 hp and 188 lb-ft of torque. The base transmission is a five-speed manual, however a four-speed automatic is available.
