A mid-size five-passenger car, the 1998 Hyundai Elantra is well-equipped yet affordable and efficient. The Elantra is powered by a 130 hp 1.8L four-cylinder engine which achieves 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. A manual transmission is standard but an automatic is optional.
