A compact sedan that seats five passengers, the 1998 Ford Contour is available in three trim levels; the LX, SE, and the sporty SVT. The LX and the SE are both powered by a 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine which produces 125 hp and 130 lb-ft of torque. The SVT is powered by a 2.5L V6 engine which develops 196 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder is rated at 34 mpg on the highway and the exciting SVT still hits an impressive 29 mpg.
