A premium mid-size sports sedan, the 1998 Buick Regal seats five passengers and is available in two trims; the LS and the GS. The Regal is offered with a choice between two engines; a 3.8L V6 that produces 195 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque or a supercharged version which develops 240 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Both versions use a four-speed automatic. The 195 hp engine is rated at 30 mpg on the highway, while the 240 hp version is rated at 27 mpg.
