INFINITI raced to become part of the luxury sport utility vehicle market in the late 1990s with the QX4. Derived from the Nissan Pathfinder, the INFINITI QX4 provided an initial sample of the Japanese-based brand's luxury with available four-wheel drive. Replacing the QX4, INFINITI introduced the FX crossover utility as well as the full-sized QX56. The INFINITI FX models sported a radical, aerodynamic appearance along with V-6 and V-8 engine options. Later introduction of the smaller INFINITI EX model would replicate styling direction of the FX appearance. The QX56 secured the position as INFINITI's flagship among their sport utility vehicle line-up. In 2013, the INFINITI JX35 provided premium seven-passenger seating with the agility of a crossover.
