Honda's United States line-up routinely includes a coupe body style. Originally intended as a challenger to the Ford Mustang, the Prelude quickly steered towards the high-tech and luxury crowd. In the latter part of the 1980s, four-wheel steering made its debut on the Honda Prelude. Honda discontinued production of the Prelude in 2001. Other common coupes found within the Honda brand is attached to the Civic and Accord line-up. The Civic emphasizes sportiness while the Accord coupe is more oriented for personal comfort. The Honda Civic has been one of the few compact cars sold in North America as a two-door model. In some cases over the years, the coupe versions of the Accord and Civic featured hatchback or fastback roof lines.
