Henry Melges founded marine company Melges Boat Work Incorporated in 1945 originally as a builder of wooden rowboats. Through the 1960s, the Melges Boat Works company would become a very visible presence in sailboat racing. Among Melges Boat Works achievements over time in competitive sailing was the 1992 America’s Cup title. Melges Boat Works Incorporated was restructured as Melges Performance Sailboats after the 2005.
