A small, sailable yacht maker, Canadian-based Alberg/Whitby Boats built their first vessel in 1962. Founded by Carl A. Alberg and Kurt Hansen, the sailboat manufacturer successfully set off in creating durable ships at a reduced cost compared to the competition. Earlier boats are built largely out of fiberglass and wood, but newer sailboats by Alberg/Whitby incorporated the used of aluminum masts. Following the passing of the Carl Alberg in 1986, the boat builder ceased operations.
